Hey guys, it's Nick from F150LEDs.com. Today we're going to be showing you how to install a dash accent light here, right above the glove box on a 2015 and up Ford F-150 that doesn't come with the factory lighting already in the dash. It's extremely easy. It's going to tie into our existing cup holder light product here. So it makes the installation extremely fast, extremely easy. And we're going to show you how it's done right now.
The first thing that we're going to want to do is go ahead and place our light here on the dash. So we're going to open our glove box and then just kind of pull out on this rubber, I guess gasket, if you want to call it that. And we're going to place our light right on top of this and reinstall this piece.
So just go ahead and take the edge of your light. Kind of on the top of that. Doesn't have to be perfect right now because we're going to kind of work it in. And then just push back. Whoop. Push back into place this seal. Make sure, on this side, that your wires come behind the rubber gasket.
Once we've got our light here installed on the dash, we're going to run our remaining wire here down the left side of the glove box so that it comes out the bottom just like so. Then we're going to make our connection to our power cable. Make sure it firmly clicks all the way in place like that.
Now what we're going to do, we're just going to kind of pop this plastic trim panel off right here. And we're going to run our excess light and cabling here under this dash piece here to get to our center console where we have our inverter from our cup holder lights. So this side panel piece will just pop right off the truck. Just like so. Now you'll be able to basically route your wiring here right in place. Then we'll be able to pop this panel back on.
Take your wire here from this passenger side. You'd be able to just kind of tuck it up under this trim piece all the way in. And then we're going to be able to take this side and connect it to our inverter box. But before we do that, we're going to need to connect our Y splitter.
So take the wire that you just ran from your dash accent light, and then take the included Y splitter here, and go ahead and connect it to one of the Y split connections. Make sure it clicks all the way in like that. Now this is our inverter control box from our existing cup holder like it.
So disconnect the inverter from the power to the strips, and then you're going to connect it to one of the Y split ends. And then you're just going to use this Y splitter here as a connection to your inverter. Now we've got lights to our existing cup holder lights as well as our dash accent light.
So that's all there is to installing our dash accent light here right above your glove box. It's a great way to dress up your interior and give a unique look to your F-150.
