2018 F150 Raptor. I really like the effect these lights give the truck and they illuminate the running boards so people get their footing right away when getting in and out of the truck. The install was pretty easy when following the install video, but it took me a lot longer than advertised, although I really took my time and went slowly. I also neatly ran the wires from the driver's side to the passenger side behind the rear seat so it is completely hidden, adding some extra time for the install. However, unless you are trying to do a rush job, I would probably budget a couple of hours or so to thoroughly clean the install area on the truck, ensure an evenly spaced front to back install of the lights, and to locate the correct wires to tap into. For my truck, the larger black with yellow stripe wire was the ground and the power was one of the three grey with purple stripe wires. I had to use a test light to probe and test each of the three wires to find the correct one (it turned out to be the 3rd grey with purple sttipe wire I found located on the under side of the wiring bundle--I almost didn't see it so you might have to search for it). For the placement of the light strips, it appears you can either stick them to the verticle lip on the underside of the vehicle (if you want to see the light strips themselves when kneeling down) or just above that on the horizontal portion so that the lights shine down, giving it a better backlighting effect. I chose the latter as I wanted more of a backlighting/ground effect. One minor note, the write-up for the product says "no drilling". However, you do need to drill one hole on each side to get the wires into the truck through the white panel clip, per the instruction video. This is no big deal though.
Easy install.. looks great! I have 2020 Ford super crew cab it can be 6 inches longer. I give it a 4 star...
These lights are awesome! Come with everything you need to install, and they look amazing!
These lights look fantastic once you get them installed. I read many of the reviews before purchasing these so I was prepared for some potential difficulties. The hardest part I had was finding the correct wire to connect the lights. The wiring instructions directed us to connect to the violet/grey wire and there were a couple of those wires in the bundle. I had to get with customer support and we eventually figured it out with some trial and error. Customer support was very helpful. My wife and I found the correct wire and we both agree that it is a grey wire with a violet stripe, but that may just be our perception. So, if you have a 2018 Raptor, look for that wire. I also recommend just hooking up one light until you find the right wire. Remember the red wire is the power, the black is the ground. When mounting the lights, you mount them behind the seal and you can point them down or mount them on the edge to where they point out. We chose the second option and I have included a picture of how we mounted the strip. My complaints on this kit: The tube of silicon they sent was hard at the top and no matter how hard I tried, I could not get it to come out the top of the tube. My answer to this issue was to cut the back corner of the tube and squeeze it out the corner. This is a minor issue, but they need to send out a good tube. The other issue I have was on the driver side lights the wire that you run behind the seat was not long enough to reach the passenger side and we had to run it in front of the seat (we did not get those reversed). I will have to buy some wire and add some length to it so I can hide the wire behind the seat. Again, this is a minor issue, but it is frustrating. I gave the kit 5 stars because it is a great kit and the customer service I got was fantastic. I am going to buy another kit for my Lariat.
Easy and fun project to do... thanks
