Given how great f150leds continues to be as a vendor, I really wanted to rate this kit higher. By itself, it’s a fun & impressive add-on that seems to be very well constructed. In the “plus” column, the LEDs are bright, and the color & brightness adjustments offer a lot of options. The music sync setting does wonders for keeping my kids entertained, and although I didn’t intend to use them as “party lights”, I must say that the fade effect is actually really soothing - I’ve found myself using it more than I expected. On the “minus” side, however, there are a couple of quirks that I must say continue to bug me weeks after buying this kit. The first (and by far the worst) is the attachment of the strip in the passenger footwell. The 3M adhesive strips held it up for roughly 48 hours before it was partially hanging down, and about another 24 before it was on the floor mat altogether. In reality, this is an issue on both front footwells, however there is a “lip” on the driver side that allowed me to use binder clips to hold the lights - a solution that works surprisingly well, but certainly doesn’t help to justify the high price tag. As for the passenger side, I tried additional adhesive strips and double-sided tape without any luck, and finally ended up using a plastic epoxy which seems to be holding for now. And yes, all surfaces were cleaned and prepped prior to installation. The second “issue” is really applicable only for those that have (or plan to get) the cup holder ring light kit. I bought that item first, in “Aqua”. While both kits are great items individually (save for the adhesive issue), they absolutely do NOT match hues. I’ve adjusted brightness on both the “blue” and “cyan” modes of the ambient kit…. nothing even comes close. I fully appreciate that my second gripe is completely irrelevant for anyone using a different color on the console (or not at all). That being said, the contrast between the two is admittedly a constant annoyance given the price tag on this ambient lighting kit. At some point I may break down and purchase a true “blue” for the cup holders; until then it’s just an annoyance I’ll live with (first-world problems, I know). As stated, F150LEDS has been great to work with. If that weren’t the case, I’d likely be even more critical of this kit…. As it stands, I think my best summary would be that it’s a great product with a few shortcomings. While they may be minor, they’re tough to ignore given the price tag. I can’t say it’s reasonable to have to use paper clips and glue to install a product that’s over $150.
Great I had a little snag with the connection that was heat shrinked. But I spoke to your customer service people and as directed I pushed them together and the lights are working. Maybe you can glue them together then shring wrap them. Overall love the way they look.
Biggest problem is the 3M adhesive, just not sticky enough. Some of the wiring lengths don’t match the order stated in the instruction video but as long as you lay in out first before installing, you’ll figure it out.
Easy to install once you lay out where you want to route your wires. Works and looks great.
