Hey guys, it's Nick from F150LEDs.com. Today we're here with our 2018 Ford F-150 and I'm going to be showing you how to swap out those yellow dingy halogen fog lamps that come factory on your F150 with our MKII LED CREE fog light series bulbs. These bulbs are going to give you this beautiful diamond white light that's super bright. It's going to light up the night in front of you, much better than the OEM bulbs do, so not only are you going to see better at night, it's going to make you and your family safer, and your truck's going to look a lot better as well. The installation's easy and we're going to show you how it's done right now.
We're going to be working in this area behind the headlight system, so what we're going to do is rotate our wheel all the way to the right to give us as much clearance as possible. Now that we've got our wheel turn all the way in, we need to gain access behind this wheel well liner. In order to do that, there are four bolts, that we're going to be using a 5 1/2 millimeter or 7/32 socket to remove. All four bolts are very easy to get to, there's one located here and then one above it right there and then there are two along this fender well. One right here, you'll be able to feel them and then there's one right here, so you've got one bolt here, one here, and then these two bolts, so remove those four and then there's a friction tab that you can use a Flathead screwdriver or even your hand just to pull out, that's a little further in, it might be hard to see on the camera, but once we remove those we'll be able to peal this wheel well liner back up over the wheel, giving us access to the bulbs.
Now that we've got our four bolts removed and that pull tab, let's fold this wheel liner up over the tire to give us access to the bulbs. We're just going to go from the bottom here, fold it up over the tire, then we'll pull off from the top of the fender, here.
I just got to push it up over the tire and that's going to expose the bulbs. All right, so we've done our best to show you what it's going to look like once you pull back this fender, it's a really tight shot for the camera, but once you get it pulled back and you're looking at it yourself, everything's going to be right there in front of you and it's not going to be complicated, so don't worry about that but, first thing we're going to do is go ahead and remove this OEM fog light bulb here, so you'll notice this kind of blue connector tab that's going to kind of pinpoint this fog light bulb here on the bottom, so just grasp it and with a counter clockwise turn... and it just popped right out. So, that's our OEM bulb, now what we're going to need to do is pull back on those blue tabs here to release the bulb from the truck's OEM harness.
All right, so our blue connector kind of popped up but you can pop it right back on, so all right, so this is our OEM fog light harness connector here and this is the bulb that we just removed from there, so now what we want to do is take our MKII series CREE LED fog light bulb and we're going to match it up here with our F150LEDs fog light resistor harness, so you'll notice that the MKII bulb here has the female slot opening, so it's an opening and here we've got the male connector side on our harness, so go ahead and connect those together like so. You'll hear that firm click and then we're just going to go ahead and reinstall this bulb here into the fog light housing.
Using a clockwise turn and that'll lock into place like so. Now what we'll want to do is connect our resistor harness here to the factory fog light harness here, so notice that there's a notch on top of the F150LEDs resistor harness here that's going to mate up here with the OEM top tabs, so you just push those two together until they’re all the way… You'll hear them and feel them kind of connect into place, so now we've got our bulb installed and our resistor and harness set up. The only thing left to do here is to tuck our resister module up away from anything plastic or anything that wouldn't do well with heat, so what we're going to actually do is just kind of hang it here using this metal frame. It's a little bit out of the picture, but we'll show you a static image using the included zip ties.
So, just bringing the zip tie up here. It's just such a tight spot to show on camera. There we go, just did it no problem, so once you get your zip tie on this crossbar here, just go and position your resistor kind of directly up under it like so. So, once you get your fender well back on, this is not going to be touching it. Go ahead and tighten that zip tie all the way and then we'll tuck our harness back in and we're good to go. We can put our fender well liner back on and then move to the other side.
So, that's all there is to installing the MKII Series LED CREE fog light system on your 2018 and up Ford F-150 Series truck. We highly recommend this upgrade, not only because they look fantastic with their diamond white light, but because they're brighter at night and that's going to make you safer, not only because you can see better, but because oncoming traffic is going to be able to see you better as well.
