Hey guys, it's Nick from F150LEDs.com and we've got our F250 here today, and we're going to be showing you a great way to upgrade the reverse lighting on your F250 with some excellent Spartan CREE XTE five-watt LED lights here that go directly under your bumper. The install is pretty simple, pretty easy, but the results are fantastic. I don't know if the camera can capture it, but these things are extremely bright. They're going to make backing up safer for you. You're going to be able to see where you're going much better, whether you're just backing up in the parking lot or backing up to a boat or a trailer. Plus, it's going to make you and your family safer because everyone else is going to know when you're putting this thing in a reverse. All right. So, we're going to go ahead and jump in the install, show you how easy it is and let's get to it.
The first thing that we're going to want to do is go ahead and attach our mounting bracket here to the top of our Spartan light. So take our mounting bolt here, thread it through the top of your bracket, and then we're going to just slide your bracket into these opening grooves here on the top of your Spartan. It's a little bit of a tight, but you can squeeze them in like so. Push them down, okay? Now the next thing that we're going to want to do is from the sides of the light here on both sides, we're going to run it on to run these threaded bolts, okay? So just to make sure that you've got your bracket all the way align correctly so that they'll pop in like so. Just going to move the bracket like so. Okay.
Now the next thing that we need to do is drop these little nuts inside the housing, okay, and that's what these bolts are going to connect to. Whoops, careful. They will come right back out until we get our nuts in there. All right. So slide your bracket back a little bit, and you're going to take your nut and you just want to drop it in just like so. So basically it will stay in the channel like so. So I'm just going to drop it in. Okay, it's still vertical. I don't know if you can see that on the camera or not. Now we're going to take our bolt. It's going to tighten against that nut, just like so. Again, I don't know if you can see that on the camera or not. That's all that's required. Now I'm going to drop the nut in on this side. Taking your included Allen wrench and again, tighten. You want to go to probably about 85, 90% tightened because we want some flexibility with the angle of your light. Once we get it installed, then we'll tighten it 100%, okay?
Now that you've got your upper bracket installed onto the Spartan, ready to mount the light to the truck. All right, we're going to be mounting our Spartans here directly underneath the bumper of this F250 and we're going to be doing it right outside this trailer hitch frame. That's going to give us the best light output to put the lights a little bit further apart. It's going to give us the most light cast. And also, we don't want to negatively affect any of our departure angles, okay? So right out here is a great spot. I'm going to do it obviously on both sides and there's already a bolt that we're going to use here. Let's see, let me check. It's a T40 bit. So I'm just going to use this socket here to break them loose because they start a little bit hard. And then I'm going to switch it over to our impact wrench. You don't have to use this obviously, just to go ahead and get this bolt to come all the way out.
There we go. So we're not going to be reusing this T40, but we're going to be using the included stainless steel bolt here that we've mounted onto our upper bracket of the Spartan here. We're going to be inserting it back into the hole and then we're going to apply a washer and a lock nut on top, and that's going to secure our light in place. So I'm going to go ahead and do that now. Go ahead and fix your light here. Run your bolt up through the location where we removed that T40 bolt. Now we're going to reach up under it with our lock washer, put it on top of our new bolt. And then we're going to reach over with our nut. We're going to hand tighten here. And then once we get that tight, we'll be able to come and tighten from below on this bolt head. Now that we've got our nut here on the top side, hand tight, go ahead and take a half inch or a 13 millimeter wrench. We're just going to tighten here from the bottom.
Now that we've got our light mount under here under the bumper, let's go ahead and adjust our beam angle. So you can go left or right or up or down. I want to keep it directly centered towards the back of the truck, but I am going to tilt it down just a little bit so I get that maximum light hitting the ground here right behind the truck, okay? So just a little bit of angle and then take that Allen wrench and we're going to be tightening these two side bolts all the way to 100%. We did about 85% earlier. All right, so we got both our lights installed and they're looking great, but we need to hook them up for power. So we're going to take this custom thermal sheath harness here. It's got two runs, one run for each light, and at the end of each run is an IP68 fully weatherproof lock ring connector, okay? So that's going to make sure that you don't have any issues down the road with rain or anything like that when as far as getting power to your lights.
All right. So what we're to do is from up under the bumper, I'm going to run one run to this light. The other side of the harness, I'll go here to this light. And then we're going to take this red and black wire here on the other end of our harness and we're going to connect the red for power and black for ground right here at our trailer harness hookup. So you'll notice on this front plate here in the center, it tells you the center wire is going to be your backup lamp. So that's what we're going to connect the red wire from our harness to power for our backup lamps. And you'll see in the top right here, it says the negative sign. That means ground, okay? So when you are looking on the back side of this wiring unit, you're going to find the center wire for power and the red connection and then you're going to see this top right, or it's going to be the top left if you're looking from underneath the truck. That is going to be your ground, okay?
So to make it a little simpler, a little easier than having to make the connections behind the truck, if you will slide under the bumper, you'll see these two metal pins... Metal tabs, excuse me. If you push on these tabs, it'll allow you to pull this whole unit away from the bumper, okay? And then to make it even a little easier on the backside, there's a tab right here. If you push down, you'll be able to disconnect this front plate from the harness itself, okay? So that will show us the wires that we're going to use. Now we've already made our quick splice connection so we could show you, but these quick splice connectors are extremely easy to use. You can click on the video, the card above, it details on how they're used, but you just slide them over the existing wire, slide the new wire in, push down on the tab and it connects them. So that's very easy to use.
So here we have our center wire that we connected our red wire to, it's thinner. And you'll notice our ground wire was actually a very thick wire, okay? But that was our top right when we're looking from the rear, just like the front plate said it was, okay? So we already made those two connections. So at this point, you can use some electrical tape around those and then we'll zip tie up the harness and we'll be good to go.
Okay, so we've got our Spartans installed, they look fantastic. The camera can't capture how bright these are and how much great light they put off, but we definitely guarantee you're going to be pleased with these.
